Chhath Puja in Delhi: Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Wednesday announced the construction of 17 model Chhath Ghats on the banks of Yamuna. He also said that all cases registered against devotees worshiping at the ghats will be withdrawn. Speaking at a press conference, the Chief Minister said that his government’s aim is to celebrate Chhath Puja in Delhi with the same grandeur as Diwali. This year, the four-day Chhath Puja dedicated to Sun God and Chhathi Maiya will be celebrated from October 25 to October 28. The Chief Minister said that the government will ensure all necessary arrangements like cleanliness, security, lighting and medical facilities at all the ghats. These measures will help the devotees in Delhi to celebrate Chhath festival without any hassle.
Strict security arrangements during puja
He also said that this time foam will not be seen in Yamuna. Chief Minister Rekha Gupta said that strict security arrangements will be made during the puja, so that the devotees do not face any problem. Proper lighting arrangements will be made at all the ghats. This festival has special significance for the Purvanchali community, a large part of the population of Delhi. CM Gupta said that earlier Chhath Puja was not allowed on the banks of Yamuna, but this year we have allowed it for the devotees. We will reject all the complaints of previous years and withdraw all such cases from our side.
Cultural programs in Maithili and Bhojpuri will be held at every ghat.
He said that the government has received more than 1,000 applications from various puja committees to organize Chhath Puja at various places in the national capital. An ideal Chhath Ghat will be built in every district and cultural programs in Maithili and Bhojpuri will be organized at every Ghat. He said that all necessary facilities like clean drinking water, tea, lights and toilets will be provided at these ghats. The Delhi government on Wednesday also launched a special cleanliness drive to prepare the ghats ahead of the festival. CM Gupta said that we will ensure every facility for our devotees so that Chhath Puja can be celebrated like Diwali. On the other hand, BJP MP Bansuri Swaraj and MLA Anil Sharma took stock of the preparations for Chhath and cleaned the ghat with brooms.
