PKK Ceasefire With Turkey: Kurdish fighters, who have been revolting for 40 years in Türkiye, finally announced a ceasefire on Saturday. This announcement has been made by the PKK i.e. Kurdistan Workers Party when the removal of President Bashar al-Assad in the neighboring country Syria, the weakening of the Hizbullah group in Lebanon and the Israel-Hamas war in Gaza have been seen. PKK’s close media outlet Faraat News Agency has given this information.

Many countries have declared terrorist organizations

The Firat News Agency quoted Abdullah Oklan, the leader of the jailed rebels since 1999, that we declare an effective ceasefire from today to pave the way for peace and democratic society. Until the attack is done, no army of our army will take armed action.

Let me tell you that on Thursday, a delegation of Kurdish politicians called upon PKK to insert and dissolve it after meeting Abdullah Oklan in the island prison in Okalan. Significantly, in the year 1984, thousands of people have died due to the conflict between Türkiye and PKK. The US and the European Union, including Türkiye, have declared PKK as a terrorist organization.

In fact, Kurdish fighters have been demanding more rights to the Kurds in the Kurdistan country or Türkiye from Turkey since 1984. The fight was going on since the year 1984. So far more than 40 thousand people have been killed in this war. Abdullah Oklan, the leader of the organization, was caught by Türkiye’s Special Force in 1999 from Kenya. After this, a special jail in Istanbul has been imprisoned.

The ceasefire stopped from 2013 to 2015

According to the information, PKK is also known as Kongra-Gal. It was established in the year 1978 with the target of making integrated, independent Kurdistan. The purpose of this group is to gain complete control over the Kurdish areas of Iran, Iraq, Syria and Türkiye to carry forward Kurdish rights and recognition.

PKK is believed to have maintained its headquarters in Iraq and mainly carries out attacks on Turkish bases in the Kurdish region of South-Eastern Turkey. Since these attacks, Turkish security forces have pushed most of the PKK campaigns in Iraq and Syria. PKK and Turkish government maintained ceasefire from 2013 to 2015.

According to the information, more than 4 thousand fighters are included in this group. PKK fighters are also considered adept in guerrilla warfare. IED, car bombs, grenades, small arms, mortars, suicide bombings, kidnappings, unmanned drones use weapons. PKK has also attacked Turkish government personnel and security forces in Ankara and Istanbul.

PKK’s deadly attacks

  • December 10, 2016- Istanbul: PKK colleague TAK i.e. Kurdistan Freedom Hawks terrorists carried out car bombs and suicide bombs outside a football stadium. 44 people were killed and 155 were injured in this.
  • 13 March 2016- Ankara: TAK carries out a car bomb at a bus stop in Guvenpark. 37 people were killed and 125 were injured in this.
  • 14 July 2011- Silwan: 13 soldiers and seven PKK fighters were killed in a conflict between PKK and Turkish army.
  • 25 June 2006- Manavagat: TAK bombed a tourist place, killing four people and 28 injured.
  • 20 June 1987- Pinarsic: A branch of PKK Kurdistan People’s Liberation Army killed 30 people in the village.
