Delhi Police: Delhi Police has busted a gang of cyber fraudsters who cheated people in the name of getting cheap air tickets. The police officer said on Friday that two people of this gang have been arrested from Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh. Police said the accused have been identified as Tour and Travel operator Tanuj Agarwal (28) of Dehradun and Tanveer (30), resident of Deoband in Uttar Pradesh, who was in touch with some Chinese citizens on a messaging app. A senior police officer said the case came to light when a complainant of the Civil Lines area, Dixon Singh alleged that he lost Rs 50,000 in an attempt to book a low -cost air ticket for his family to go to Kerala.
Cheated on seeing the advertisement of concessional tickets
The complainant said that he saw an advertisement of online discounted tickets online and after clicking on a fake payment link, he was cheated to transfer money. The official said that a case was registered at the cyber police station in the northern district and investigation was started. During the investigation, the police found that the complainant’s money was transferred to the bank account of UTM Tourism Services Private Limited run by Aggarwal. Police said that the accused was arrested on 16 September from Sahastradhara Road area of Dehradun. Accused Aggarwal revealed that he had given his account to Tanveer, who was in touch with some Chinese citizens on a messaging app. Police said that on Tanveer’s insistence, Aggarwal allowed his account to use his account in exchange for Rs 65,000.
Frauds become active on festivals
The official said that Tanveer was tracked in Deoband and arrested on 18 September. The official further said that verification has revealed that at least 25 complaints of cyber fraud in various states are related to this account. The police have recovered a checkbook and two mobile phones named UTM Tourism Services Private Limited from the accused. Police said that further investigation is going on to find out the identity of foreign operators and the transaction of money. Delhi Police has said that fraudsters become very active in view of the upcoming festivals. The fraudsters cheat people easily by giving temptation of cheap air tickets. Delhi Police has advised people to avoid any such advertisement. Said that the victim of cheating should immediately inform the police.
