It is known that on March 25, there were incidents of six chain snatching in the areas of South Chennai including Saidapate at around 7 am. Therefore, the investigation of vehicles in the entire city was intensified.

The accused was in the face of fleeing Hyderabad by plane

Meanwhile, seeing the strictness of the police, the accused was trying to flee to Hyderabad in the plane. Then on the information, the police arrested him from the airport. The police brought the accused Jafar to the Taramani railway station area, where he hid his bike. During this time, the accused suddenly took out a desi pistol from inside the motorcycle and fired on the police team. Greater Chennai Police Commissioner A Arun said that Jafar tried to escape by attacking the police.

ADGP said that Jafar was taken to the Tarani railway station area by the police as part of the investigation of the recovery of the vehicles used to carry out the jewelery and crimes robbed at around 2.30 pm. Suddenly, the accused took out a desi pistol from inside the bike and fired bullets on the police team. In the rescue, the police also opened fire on him. In which the accused was killed.

Commissioner Arun said that the role of gangs outside Tamil Nadu in the chain snatching incident was suspicious. After this, parking sites and CCTV footage of airports, railway stations, metro railway stations and CCTV footage were examined. After identifying some accused, two accused were arrested from the airport. Third accused Salman Hussain Irani, who boarded a train to Hyderabad at Chennai Central Railway Station after crimes, was arrested with the help of RPF in Ongol, neighboring Andhra Pradesh and recovered jewelery.

The police officer said that the accused is associated with the notorious Irani gang, which is mainly active in Mumbai and its surrounding areas. This gang executes incidents like robbery and snatching across the country. Commissioner Arun said that this action was carried out on the basis of information received from Mumbai Police.
