RBI New Deputy Governor: RBI has appointed Poonam Gupta as a new deputy governor. The post had gone empty since Michael Patra retired in January. Poonam has been appointed for 3 years to this post.
RBI New Deputy Governor : RBI has also got its deputy governor. The government has appointed Poonam Gupta to this post lying vacant since January. He has been appointed by the Appointments Committee of the Union Cabinet to this post for 3 years. Before being appointed to the post of Deputy Governor, Poonam Gupta has also served in many important positions.
How is Poonam’s career
Poonam Gupta has from the Delhi School of Economics from Masters in Economics and PHD from University of Maryland, USA. He started his career with teaching and taught in many prestigious institutions including Delhi School of Economics, ISI Delhi. She then joined the IMF and World Bank, where she worked for about 20 years. At the same time, in the year 2021, he also worked as the Director General of NCAER.
Put an eye on major achievements too
Poonam Gupta has also worked as the convenor of the Prime Minister’s Economic Advisory Council and the 16th Finance Commission Advisory Committee. He has also presided over the task force on macroeconomics and trade during India’s G20 Presidency. In the year 1998, he was also awarded the Exim Bank Award for his PhD on international economics.
