New Delhi: On Tuesday, the ministers of the two countries held a meeting between India and the United Arab Emirates to further strengthen defense and military relations. Defense Minister Rajnath Singh held a meeting with UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktum in South Block New Delhi on Tuesday. The two leaders expressed happiness over the current defense cooperation through institutional mechanisms, military exercises, exchange of training programs etc.
The two ministers admitted that the two leaders should increase defense cooperation to match the progress made in other areas such as trade and business in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
They recognized the training exchange as one of the major areas of defense cooperation that would be able to understand each other’s defense ecosystems and expedite strengthening bilateral defense relations. The two leaders expressed satisfaction over the active Coast Guard-to-Tater Guard cooperation and committed to deepen it through an MoU. They were convinced that close cooperation between defense industries should be an integral part of bilateral cooperation.

He insisted on increasing the defense industry cooperation and discussed opportunities to increase partnership in defense manufacturing. The two ministers accepted each other’s exhibitions and active participation between the two sides at the Raksha Expo and welcomed the India-UAE Defense Partnership Forum, which has the ability to resulting as a result of strategic joint venture and co-production projects benefiting both countries.
He also agreed to focus on supplements for the two countries in make-in-India and Make-in-Eminet initiatives. After the meeting, through a post on X, the Defense Minister said that comprehensive strategic partnership with UAE is a huge priority for India. “In the coming years, we are eager to work together in areas such as defense cooperation, co-production and co-development projects, innovation and technology.
Both India and UAE are committed to working towards peace and prosperity in the region. The Defense Cooperation Agreement Memorandum with UAE was signed in 2003 and a memorandum on the Defense Industry Cooperation was signed in 2017.
