The torrential rains in Jammu on Wednesday evening wreaked havoc. The rain caused a lot of damage in the city. A part of the wall of the civil secretariat fell. Dozens of trains and houses were damaged. Due to strong wind and rain, the power supply came to a standstill, due to which people had to face a lot of problems. Due to lack of electricity, people had to crave for water. However, there is no news of any casualty.
Civil secretariat’s fallen wall formed in the middle of the city
Administrative officials said that a part of the wall of the Civil Secretariat, built in the middle of the city near Mahila Park, fell at around 7.30 pm. The thorn wires along the wall broke and fell on the seven vehicles running on the road, but it was a matter of honor that no one suffered injuries. Traffic department employees who reached the information have removed four vehicles from the spot and the work of removing the rest of the trapped vehicles is going on. Apart from this, a mobile tower collapsed due to a strong thunderstorm in the multi -fort area of Jammu city, causing four motorcycles and a residential house to be damaged.
Trees and electric poles were uprooted in many areas, problems of drinking water with living in darkness
Many trains have been damaged due to the uprooting trees and electric poles in many areas of the city. People also faced problems of drinking water while living in darkness. On the other hand, farmers suffered a lot due to heavy hailstorm in Gul subdivision of Ramban district. Crops were damaged. Gul’s SDM Imtiaz Ahmed said that three flocks and some chickens were killed in the upper parts of the area, while the windows of two houses and plastic water tanks were damaged.
He said that teams have been sent on the spot to assess the loss. Due to hailstorm and rain, landslides have occurred on many contact routes, which has disrupted movement. Officials said that landslides have also occurred on the Jammu-Pantha National Highway near Rajouri district, due to which this important road has been closed. Contact has been cut off from other places in the district. The work of removing the debris is going on to run the road smoothly.
