In the last few years, bilateral relations have been continuously strengthened by the exchange of high-level trips. In January 2005, an outline agreement was signed on economic cooperation between the two countries.
Delhi: India and Chile have signed the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement on 8 May. This reflects a significant progress in bilateral trade relations between the two countries. On the conditions, Chile’s Ambassador to India, Juan Angulo and Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India and the Indian side were signed by Vimal Anand, the Chief Conversation of the Indo-Tili CEPA. Both sides repeated their shared approach to strengthen bilateral relations. Officials hoped for meaningful discussion during the first talks to be held in New Delhi from 26-30 May.
India and Chile strategic partner and close aide
The CEPA aims to include many areas including digital services, investment promotion and cooperation, MSME, important minerals, etc., furthering the current PTA between the two countries, which will increase economic integration and cooperation. India and Chile are strategic partners and close ally. Both countries share enthusiastic and cordial relations. In the last few years, bilateral relations have been continuously strengthened by the exchange of high-level trips. In January 2005, an outline agreement was signed on economic cooperation between the two countries. Subsequently, the Precious Trade Agreement (PTA) was signed in March 2006. Since then, economic and commercial relations between India and Chile have remained strong and are moving towards continuous progress.

In April 2019, the two countries agreed to carry forward further expansion of PTA with three round of talks during 2019-2021. To strengthen their economic connection, both sides expressed the intention of promoting employment and investment, cooperation and conversation on CEPA to facilitate exports.
The emphasis of both countries on opening new opportunities for development
This shared view was confirmed during the state visit of Chile’s President Gabriel Borik Font from 1-5 April 2025 on the invitation of Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi. Leaders of both sides admitted that business and commerce have served as a strong pillar of bilateral relations. He emphasized the importance of increasing the current trade structure to open new development opportunities. In this spirit, the two leaders accepted the signing of the TOR (TOR) mutually agreed mutually agreed.
