Business Update: The announcement of new 20 rupees new notes is just an administrative update, so that the general public does not need to panic. Old notes will be completely valid and can be used without any interruption. This change is only being made due to the signature of the governor, not for the purpose of rejecting the note.
Business Update: Recently, some confusion has been seen among the general public regarding the announcement of new notes of 20 rupees, but it is necessary to make it clear that this change is completely part of an administrative process and its purpose is not to invite the old notes in any way. The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) periodically keeps updating the process of printing and distribution of notes of various price classes. This time only a few minor changes have been made in 20 rupee notes, mainly related to the signature of the new governor. This is a common process that is adopted when the term of the new governor begins. In such a situation, their signatures on notes are included to ensure their acceptance and empowerment.
New notes of 20 rupees are coming in the market
The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced that soon new notes of 20 rupees will be issued under the Mahatma Gandhi (new) series. These new notes will be signed by recently appointed RBI Governor Sanjay Malhotra. However, the color, design, size and safety features of the note will remain the same. Only the signature will be changed. This is a common process that is adopted after taking charge of every new governor.

Will the old 20 rupee notes no longer run?
After this announcement, the biggest question was in the minds of the people what will happen to the old 20 rupee notes. The RBI has completely made it clear that all the notes of 20 rupees issued during the tenure of the previous governors will remain valid and will remain in trend. Until a note is formally excluded from circulation, it is considered completely valid.
Note printing process
Sanjay Malhotra took over for a three -year tenure on 11 December 2024 as the 26th Governor of RBI. According to the Reserve Bank Act, 1934, all the notes issued by the RBI are valid until they are withdrawn. Along with this, 1 rupee notes issued by the Government of India are still considered a legal tender. In India, the work of printing notes is done through four different printing presses, two of which are operated by the Government of India under the supervision of the Government of India.
