Easter Sunday Attacks: A suicide attack was carried out in Sri Lanka about five years ago. The government and agencies were also warned about this attack, but even after this, vigilance was not taken.

Easter Sunday Attacks : Easter bomb blast in 2019 (Easter Sunday Attacks) In the case, the Sri Lankan government told the Supreme Court that compensation has been given to the victims. The Attorney General of Sri Lanka has told the court that as compensation, the office has distributed more than 99 per cent of Rs 310 million among the victims. Explain that the Sri Lankan Supreme Court was hearing petitions related to those fundamental rights in which the distribution of compensation collected from the people was filed to inspect.

Announcement of compensation

About 270 people were killed and more than 500 people were injured in the Easter bomb blast. Subsequently, in 2023, the Supreme Court had ordered several former government officials including the then President Maithripala Sirisena and State Intelligence Service Director Nilatha Jayawardene to pay compensation to the victims to fail to stop the attacks after giving several warnings to the former intelligence agency. At the same time, Sirisena had also appointed a committee to investigate suicide bomb explosives and in this report it was said that he was found guilty of ignoring advance intelligence reports.

What is the whole matter to explosives?

Actually, the case is that three churches and three hotels were targeted during the Easter Sunday, 21 April 2019. Bombings were exploded in these six places, due to which 267 people, including 45 foreign nationals, died. It was one of the most terrible attacks in the history of Sri Lanka and shook this country and the world. Apart from this, about 500 people were seriously injured in this incident. Explain that most of the Christian community was targeted in the bomb blast. At the same time, the then President Maithripala Sirisena and the then Prime Minister Ranil Wickramasinghe had to be severely criticized. At that time the central government was accused of disability. Along with this, it was also alleged that the government and intelligence agencies were aware of the blast attack but they did not try to stop the attack. After this, a committee formed a committee to investigate the Maithripala Sirisena explosion and the committee in its report blamed the then President for the attacks.
