Operation Spider: The ongoing war between Ukraine and Russia has once again reached a serious turn. This time Ukraine has launched a big and historical attack against Russia, which has been named “Operation Spider”. In this attack, Ukraine targeted 5 airbase and about 40 fighter aircraft of Russia through 117 drones. President Volodimir Jailonsky himself has shared information about this operation and described it as the longest distance action in Ukrainian military history.
Planning for one and a half year, attack in one day
Jailonsky wrote on the social media platform X, “This was our longest distance operation ever. It started a year, six months and nine days ago. Today it got a great result.” He congratulated the Ukrainian Security Operation Head Vasil Malieuk, who took charge of the operation and told that the people engaged in the preparation for the operation were already evacuated from the Russian area.
117 drones, 117 operators: Attack with complete preparation
According to Ukrainian media reports, this operation included 117 drones and the same drone operators. As part of the war strategy, 34% cruise missile carriers at the Russian airbase were targeted.
Ukrainian sources claimed that
40 fighter jets were destroyed, with 5 major airbases (including Marmaansk, Irqutsk, Ivanovo, Riyajan, and Amur). Many runways and hangers were also completely demolished.
Russia attacked the attack, but still silent on figures
Russia’s Ministry of Defense has confirmed the Ukrainian attack, but the loss is partially considered. He said, “Marmank and Irqutsk military airports were attacked by drones, causing some aircraft to be extinguished in time,”. Russia described the attack on the remaining three airbase (Ivanovo, Riyajan, Amur) as a “failed terrorist effort”.
