Justice was delivered after 17 years

Rajveer’s lawyer Vinod Kumar Yadav said that my client has repeatedly argued that he had no criminal record. Nobody listened to him. He was arrested.

Mainpuri (up): 62 -year -old Rajveer received justice after 17 years in the gangster act case. The court acquitted him on Thursday. Justice came lame after 17 years. Leaving behind him, 22 days of jail, 300 court hearing, lost year, broken family relationship and a son who had to work and work as a laborer and all this, not for any crime, but for a clerical mistake that no one paid attention to it for almost two decades. The police registered Rajveer’s name in the Gangster Act on August 31, 2008. An allegation that brought both stigma and waste. The real accused was Ramveer, but a Kotwali Inspector, who proved to be a big mistake that changed his life, recorded the name as Rajveer, who was his brother.

Son had to leave his studies and wages

Rajveer’s lawyer Vinod Kumar Yadav said that my client has repeatedly argued that he had no criminal record. Nobody listened to him. He was arrested. Before getting bail, he was kept in jail for 22 days and then he was left alone to fight the system. Rajveer got bail after spending 22 days in jail. But this was just the beginning of the story of the cases in which he had to keep circling the courts from Agra to Mainpuri, where the matter was transferred in 2012. He participated in about 300 court hearseds in these years. Yadav said that he could barely pay attention to his family. His two daughters, one of whom is Divyang, is now married. His son Gaurav had to quit his studies and now he works as a laborer.

Court made strict remarks on police

The lawyer said that a person who was once a hopeful and hardworking, is caught in legal trouble today. His deposits were over, his reputation was questioned and family life was badly affected. All this is not his own, but because of a mistake. Finally, there was relief on July 24, when Special Judge Swapna Deep Singhal ordered to blame Rajveer. The court said that due to the gross negligence of the police and officers, an innocent person had to spend 22 days in jail and had to fight a false case in the court for 17 years. For Rajveer, the court order gives some relief to some extent, but does not compensate what he has lost. Now he spends the day in his Mainpuri house, a little more than the burden of years. His lawyer said that justice was received, but it should not have taken so much time. No innocent person should beg for 17 years.
