hathras: Hundreds of students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya in Hathras district of Uttar Pradesh protested on Monday accusing the school of poor food and lack of basic facilities. The students came out of their premises in Agasauli in Sikandararau area of Hathras district and sat on the Mathura-Bareilly road. All the students demanded to meet the District Magistrate. According to the protesting students, the school administration has failed to provide them with adequate food, proper ventilation and necessary medical care. He complained that the quality of food is poor, hostel fans are old and useless. Said that the generator is often not started even when there is a power failure. As a result, he said that he is forced to sleep nights and gets up for the morning parade and physical training at 5 o’clock, causing them to get very tired.
Students raging on chaos
The students alleged that only paracetamol pills are given for any disease and no specific diet is provided for those who fall ill. He claimed that during the recent inspection of the District Magistrate and Superintendent of Police, the school administration managed to get a clean chit by hiding the real situation. The administration only took care of the girls ‘hostel thoroughly and abstained from showing the bad situation of the boys’ hostel. Principal Dr. Bhagwan Singh denied the allegations and claimed that everything in the school runs according to the plan. He said that we have monthly meetings to decide the food menu and food is prepared using an automatic machine.

He further said that any bad equipment is repaired immediately by mechanic. Singh also claimed that he had recently ensured that the generator would start at 2:30 am. Sub-divisional magistrate Dharmendra Singh, who reached the spot, admitted that the students are angry with the alleged irregularities and said that efforts are being made to calm them down. While the Principal of the school is emphasizing that everything is going on smoothly, the students allege that there is gross neglect and mismanagement. He said that the matter is not resolved yet and the students are sitting on the road. Later, on the assurance of the high officers of the district administration, the students should be considered and ended the picket.
