Delhi Police has busted a large racket involved in the manufacture and sale of fake automobile spare parts and engine oil. Fake products worth more than Rs 10 lakh have been seized.
New Delhi: Delhi Police has busted a large racket involved in the manufacture and sale of fake automobile spare parts and engine oil. In this case, five people have been arrested by the police and fake products worth more than Rs 10 lakh have been seized. A police officer said on Saturday that two campuses Karol Bagh and Madanpur Dabas were targeted in action, where fake goods with trademarks of reputed brands like Honda, TVS and ASK were being produced and stored. A senior police officer said raids were conducted after receiving intelligence information about fake trade, which was later verified in coordination with the legal representatives of the affected automobile companies.
Large quantity of fake engine oil recovered
A case was registered at the Crime Branch Police Station under the Code of Justice of India (BNS) and the related sections of the Copyright Act. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Harsh Indora said that during the raid, large quantities of fake engine oil bottles, packaging materials, branding stickers and machines used for sealing and packaging were also recovered. The arrested people include Shubham Panjiar (29), a resident of Uttam Nagar, who has a prior history in a similar case registered in Nihal Vihar. During interrogation, he confessed to involvement in illegal trade since 2020. He also informed the police about other co-accused, who were later caught.
Network is spread in many states
Other arrested persons have been identified as Himanshu Kavatara, a businessman of Karol Bagh, Naveen alias Deepak Taneja, brother -in -law of Panjiar, Ramakant Chaurasia, supplier of fake bottles. The DCP said that the police have recovered hundreds of fake goods, including 2,850 bottles of lids with more than 7,000 fake cap foil and Honda brand, more than 3,400 TVS-branded lids and about 2,800 empty bottles, 1,400 brake shoe and illegal operations with ASK logo are included. Police said that in which states this racket is spread, it is also being investigated.
