Lucknow: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Sunday claimed that before 2017, the police recruitments in the state were suffering from corruption and nepotism, which had a direct impact on the law and order of the state. Adityanath said these things while addressing the attendees at the appointment letter distribution ceremony for 1,494 newly-selected assistant operators in the Uttar Pradesh Police Telecom Department at Indira Gandhi Foundation. The Chief Minister said that before 2017, recruitment processes were filled with irregularities, nepotism, money transactions, bias and the future of the youth was in darkness. This increased the atmosphere of riots, chaos, hooliganism, terrorism and insecurity in the state.

Government jobs for 8.5 lakh youth so far

He said that sometimes there were attacks in the courts of Ayodhya, Kashi and Lucknow, sometimes there were terrorist attacks. During this time, the CRPF camp in Rampur was also targeted. Emphasizing the “double engine government” formed in 2017 under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Adityanath mentioned that important steps were taken to ensure the transparent and fair recruitment process. Adityanath claimed that the Police Recruitment Board was strengthened and as a result Uttar Pradesh is now at the top of the country in police recruitment and government jobs. He further said that so far 8.5 lakh youth have been given government jobs, which is the highest in the country. Highlighting the recruitment reforms, CM Adityanath said that since 2017, more than 2.17 lakh personnel have been admitted to the police force.

20 percent reservation for women in police recruitment

He said that these figures are not just numbers. They symbolize a new identity, security and public confidence. The Chief Minister also mentioned the development of important infrastructure in police lines and headquarters in the districts and said that barracks are now the tallest structures in those areas. He informed that seven new Police Commissionerates have been established and women now have 20 percent reservation in police recruitment. Adityanath praised the role of the police telecom department during Mahakumbh and mentioned the provision of 20 percent reservation for the fire in the police recruitment.

He said that the role of telecom police is important in the state with 25 crore people. As India is moving towards becoming the largest police force in the country. Being the third largest economy, the police will have to balance between sensitivity and strictness. He said that there are 1,374 assistant operators and 120 workshop employees in 1494 recruitments. This development took place after the recruitment of 60,244 constables earlier this year. Minister Suresh Khanna, Principal Secretary Home Sanjay Prasad, DGP Rajiv Krishna, DG Telecom Ashutosh Pandey, DG Recruitment Board SD Shirodkar, DG PHQ Anand Swaroop etc. were present on the occasion.
