6 years of repeal of Article 370: 6 years after the cancellation of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir has been completed. These steps brought a big change in governance, infrastructure and civil participation in Jammu and Kashmir. Now it is being discussed once again that something big is going to happen on August 5. This is because Prime Minister Narendra Modi met President Draupadi Murmu and then shortly after, Home Minister Amit Shah also reached to meet the President. With this, the round of meetings continued throughout the day on August 4, after which the discussion intensified that the government can do something special on August 5, 2025. However, no information has been revealed about this.

Is the history of Article 370?

The British had made a big quarrel even while going from India. Sardar Patel and Pandit Nehru joined Riyasat India over the political-physical time. But the matter still got stuck. There has been a big uproar for centuries about Jammu and Kashmir, called heaven of earth. Raja Hari Singh of Jammu and Kashmir, located near Pakistan, tried to keep his princely state an independent country till the last moment, but Pakistan’s dirty eye on Muslim -majority Kashmir. Then the Pak Army attacked Kashmir. When Raj appeared to go by hand, Hari Singh sought help from India. For help, India laid a condition and said that Jammu and Kashmir should join India, on which Hari Singh agreed. Then Jammu and Kashmir became an integral part of India. But due to Section 370, Jammu and Kashmir was getting special state status.

Rules were not applied

Despite being part of India due to Article 370, many laws of India were not applicable in Jammu and Kashmir. Then in the year 2019, when Narendra Modi came to power for the second time as Prime Minister, the central government abolished Section 370 to Jammu and Kashmir, which has been 6 years today.

Section removed on August 5, 2019

Section 370 was finished on August 5, 2019 in Jammu and Kashmir. Since this move, there have been many changes in Jammu and Kashmir, including governance, infrastructure and civil participation. With this decision, the special status of the state was abolished and it was completely included in the structure of the Indian Constitution.

Elections after removing the stream

After the removal of Section 370, the pace of development in Jammu and Kashmir has accelerated. Assembly elections were also held since completing the delimitation process. Since the end of the section, there was more than 70 percent voting in the panchayat elections. The District Development Council election was the first major step in the year 2020. At the same time, the state assembly elections of 2024 further strengthened political participation, in which youth and women including emerging sarpanches of South Kashmir had excellent participation.

Since the removal of the stream, many development works have been done in Jammu and Kashmir. These include Chenab Bridge. It is the largest bridge in the world, which is a total height of 359 meters, which is even larger than the Eiffel Tower. It is a 1,315 meter long steel Arch Bridge, which is made in such a way that the earthquake and strong winds do not affect it.
