PM Modi on Indian Economy: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Sunday claimed that India is moving fast towards becoming the third largest economy in the world. He said that this speed has been achieved with honest efforts with the spirit of “reform, performance and transform” and clear intentions. This statement came at a time when US President Donald Trump had taunted India as a “dead economy”.

Rapid growing economy

PM Modi said that in the last 11 years, India’s economy has reached the top 5 economies in the world from 10th place and now it is moving fast towards third place. He explained this achievement as a result of clear intention, solid policies and efforts for continuous improvement.

Record development in infrastructure

The Prime Minister said that in 2014, the metro rail service was limited to only 5 cities, but today 24 cities have a metro network of more than 1,000 kilometers, making India the third largest metro network in the world. Historical progress has also been made in the electrification of railway networks, by independence, 20,000 km railway line was electrified by 2014, while it has reached 40,000 km in the last 11 years. The number of airports has increased from 74 to more than 160 and the number of national waterways has increased from 3 to 30.

Revolution in education and health

As of 2014 there were 7 AIIMS in the health sector, which has now gone up to 22. The number of medical colleges has increased from 387 to 704 and more than one lakh new seats have been added. Even in higher education, the number of IITs is 16 to 23, the number of IIIT is 9 to 25 and the number of IIMs is 13 to 21.

Economic self -reliance

PM Modi said that in 2014, India’s total exports were $ 468 billion, which has now increased to $ 824 billion. Electronics exports have increased from $ 6 billion to $ 38 billion and automobile exports from $ 16 billion to make India the fourth largest automobile exporter. He said that these achievements strengthen the strength of ‘self -sufficient India’.

Technology and future direction

The Prime Minister described technical self -reliance as the next major priority. He said that India is moving towards global leadership in AI, semiconductor and space missions. The ‘Made in India’ chip will be available soon and India has become a part of more than 50% global real-time digital transactions.
