Trailer launch of 'The Bengal Files' in Kolkata was stopped

The Bengal Files: Agnihotri alleged that this is an attack on democratic rights of the people, as the censor board had approved the film.

The Bengal Files: Kolkata Police on Saturday based on 1946 Calcutta riots ‘The Bengal Files’ (The Bengal Files) Stopped the trailer launch. Director Vivek Agnihotri (Vivek Agnihotri) Said that the trailer of the film was to be shown in a five -star hotel in the metropolis in the afternoon. Agnihotri alleged that it was an attack on democratic rights of the people, as the censor board had approved the film and banned it by the Calcutta High Court. He said that if hotel officials wanted to stop screening, why did he allow him to organize a press conference? How can the film’s press conference be held without showing the trailer? The director claimed that when the trailer was shown again after a while, suddenly five-six Kolkata police officers entered the banquet hall where the program was taking place and stopped the screening in the middle.

The ruling party accused of stopping screening

Agnihotri alleged that the screening was stopped at the behest of the ruling Trinamool Congress and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and his party leaders also threatened the hotel management to stop the trailer. Addressing journalists, Agnihotri said that ‘The Bengal Files’, which is based on facts and has crossed the sensor’s barrier, is being prevented from screening by a person sitting on top of the administration in Bengal. Asked if he meant Banerjee, he said yes, you are right. The trailer is now being seen all over the country, but since it is based on Bengal, we wanted to launch it here. They do not want the atrocities on Bengali Hindus in 1946 and the struggle of people like Gopal Mukherjee should be shown in cinema. If it is part of history, do you want to change history? He told reporters that there could be only one reason behind such a step, ignoring the conspiracy to divide Bengal again.

Film will be released across the country on September 5

Said that ‘The Bengal Files’ is based on communal violence in undivided Bengal in the 1946s. The film is scheduled to release in theaters on 5 September. The film’s producer Abhishek Aggarwal later told PTI that no power can stop us from releasing the film on 5 September. He said that we are taking advice from legal experts. There was no legal hurdle in the trailer launch program. After today’s developments, we will soon turn to the court. State BJP leaders Shankudev Panda and Shishir Bajoria were also present at the trailer launch program. Meanwhile, while reacting to the incident, senior TMC leader and state education minister Balata Basu expressed surprise why Agnihotri is not making a film on the 2000 Gujarat riots. Are he working for RSS-BJP? Regarding the action of police and hotel officials, I can say that this was a completely administrative decision.
