According to Trump’s new proposal, the visa deadline will be fixed for students, exchange visitors and foreign media personnel. This will affect visa holders living in America. These people will now be given visas for a fixed period.

Here, let us know that earlier a student who used to go to America on F visa to study in America, then the visa was valid till his studies were completed. At the same time, if an exchange visitor has gone for a cultural or research program on J visa, then his visa was valid till the end of that program. If a journalist has gone to work in American media on a visa, then his visa is considered till his job. But, this will not happen now.

There may be change in these rules
According to the rules issued, it has been said that the time period of students and exchange visitors will not be more than 4 years. At the same time, if we talk about journalists, then it will be for 240 days in recent years or in the case of people with China and Hong Kong for 90 days. It also states that visa holders can apply to pursue it.
Why is this step important?
Regarding this rule, a spokesperson of the Homeland Security Department has said that for a long time, previous administrations have given permission to foreign students and other visa holders to stay in the US for indefinite time. Security risks arise about this. He further said that it also causes damage to American citizens. He further said that this new proposed rule will end this misuse forever by limiting some visa holders’ living periods in America. Since 1978, foreign students are given entry into the US for an unspecified period, known as the “duration of the situation”. People with the period of status are allowed to stay in the US until indefinitely without any additional investigation.
