A senior police official said that a month-old child was allegedly sold by his parents for Rs 50,000 due to poverty, but he was rescued on Sunday. This action was taken by Chief Minister Hemant Soren after taking cognizance of the case and instructing the police to take immediate steps to save the child. A couple from Lesliganj area of ​​Palamu district allegedly sold their son for Rs 50,000 due to excessive poverty. Circle officer of Lesliganj Sunil Kumar Singh said that as soon as the case came to light, the Palamu district administration intervened in the case and provided 20 kg of food grains to the family in Lotwa village, while efforts are being made to enroll the victim under various welfare schemes.

Father was unemployed

The victim Ramchandra Ram said that he sold his son to a broker couple from the neighboring village because he did not have money to live or treat his wife Pinki Devi, which is unwell since delivery. I did not have money to arrange for her treatment or food. The aggrieved laborer Ram said that he was unemployed for the last few months due to continuous rains. Ram, a resident of Mirzapur in Uttar Pradesh, has been living in Lotwa with his wife, who is a local resident for the last decade and a half. Official sources said that he used to work as a laborer and also used to beg in the village when the work was not available. He told that he does not have an Aadhaar card or ration card and is deprived of the benefits of government schemes.

Family lives under thatch

Pinki Devi told that her father had given her a small piece of land and she built a hut, which was damaged in the rain. Ram said that we had no option but to be under the thatch. Pinky Devi gave birth to a child under the thatch and since then she is ill. Uttam Kumar Rai, in -charge of Lesliganj police station, said that a police team was sent to Latehar to locate the child and he was rescued on Sunday. Hemant Soren had previously directed the Deputy Commissioner of Palamu to ensure a proper investigation. Javed Hussain, Deputy Development Commissioner of Palamu said that the administration got information about the matter from media reports. After this, steps were taken to introduce the child to his parents.
