17th Vice President: CP Radhakrishnan has been elected to the post of Vice President. Radhakrishnan got 452 votes and B Sudarshan Reddy got 300 votes.

17th Vice President: Monday was a special day in Delhi’s politics. Actually, NDA candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan has won a stunning victory in the Vice Presidential elections. He got 452 votes, while opposition candidate B.K. Sudarshan Reddy had to be satisfied with 300 votes. A total of 767 MPs cast their votes, out of which 752 turned out to be valid and 15 illegal.
How was the vote
Voting went on in Parliament House from 10 am to 5 pm. A total of 781 MPs could cast their votes, but 13 MPs kept away from voting. These included 7 of BJD, 4 of BRS, 1 of Akali Dal and 1 independent MPs. 427 MPs voted in favor of NDA, which almost cleared the results. Rajya Sabha General Secretary PC Modi announced that Radhakrishnan got 452 votes on the basis of first preference and was elected the new Vice President of India. Many big leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Rahul Gandhi voted on this historic occasion.
Who is C.P. Radhakrishnan?
Born on 20 October 1957 in Tirupur, Tamil Nadu, Radhakrishnan has a long experience in politics and public life. He has been a two -time MP from Coimbatore and was also the President of BJP Tamil Nadu. He led the 19,000 km long Rath Yatra that lasted 93 days. His journey as Governor was also very important. He was also the Governor of Jharkhand from 2023 to 2024.
