Arvind Kejriwal Bungalow case: AAP filed a petition in the Delhi High Court after Arvind Kejriwal was not found to be a bungalow towards the center. Meanwhile, the court also told the Center that we want to know in which process the bungalow is given.
Arvind Kejriwal Bungalow Case : On Thursday, the Delhi High Court said on the petition filed by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) that the allocation of residential housing cannot be completely based on the arbitrariness of the officials. The petition demanded a bungalow to AAP national convenor and former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. Justice Sachin Dutta, who is hearing the case, has directed the Director of the Joint and Estate Director of the Ministry of Union Housing and Urban Affairs to appear in the Virtual Court on 25 September. The court also asked to clarify whether any process has been made in giving bungalow? Also, this facility was implemented under which process in the past.
I am worried about this wide issue
The Justice said that how is the order of priority and allocation taken into consideration? Assuming that the number of bungalows is limited and how decisions are taken during that time. The court said that a transparent system should be created and it cannot be completely on the will of any officer. He said that as long as the government has a clear policy, I just want to know how priority is assessed. I am worried about the widespread issue of how the discretion is used during the allocation of bungalows? At the same time, during the hearing, the Center’s lawyer told the court that the 35 Lodhi Estate-based type-VII bungalow which was proposed to allot to AAP chief Kejriwal, was allotted to Union Minister of State for Finance Pankaj Chaudhary on July 24 this year.
Court had taken the center
The court has directed that the rules made by the government for housing allocation should be recorded in the affidavit. Also, the allottees made in the past and the implementation of that policy should also be in detail in the affidavit. On 16 September, the court pulled up the central government to delay allotment of housing to Kejriwal and said that under what approach the government processes to give bungalows. The Central Government has also been asked to submit a details of the policy controlling the allocation of houses from the general residential pool and the current waiting list by 18 September. Senior advocate Rahul Mehra, appearing for the AAP, had said that the government lawyer had already sought time to receive instructions on the party’s proposal to allot Kejriwal at 35 Lodhi Estate, but now it was allotted to another person. Let us know that BSP chief Mayawati vacated the bungalow in May this year. The AAP said in its petition that the president of any recognized national party has the right to get a government house in Delhi, provided they neither have any house nor allotted to the person of any other official post.
