UP STF: The Special Task Force (STF) of Uttar Pradesh Police has got a big success. The STF last month arrested a notorious gangster and one of his companions in connection with the robbery in a day -long robbery in West Bengal. STF has also recovered Rs 20 lakh cash along with gold and diamond jewelery. The STF said on Wednesday that Adarsh Singh Behra, resident of Behada village of Kerakat police station area of Jaunpur district and Suraj Seth of Danganj village of Cholapur police station area of Varanasi district were arrested on Tuesday near Gambhirpur toll plaza in Azamgarh. 20 lakh rupees cash, 12 diamond rings, a gold ring, a diamond necklace, two mobile phones and a new Royal Enfield Bullet Motorcycle were recovered from the accused. All these were purchased with loot money.
Clue found from CCTV and intelligence information
The STF said that the gang beat up shop staff and customers. After this, on the strength of the real, he escaped with five to six kilograms of gold and diamond jewelery, whose total cost is about seven crore rupees. A case was registered at Dankuni Police Station under the relevant sections of the Code of Justice of India (BNS) and the Arms Act. During the investigation, it was revealed that professional criminals of Bihar and Uttar Pradesh were involved in this. Chandannagar Police Commissioner sought assistance from Uttar Pradesh STF and shared CCTV footage and intelligence information. The STF Varanasi unit came to know about the involvement of History Sheeter Behada with history of robbery, robbery and violent crimes. Acting on a secret information, STF officials discovered him with Seth in Azamgarh.
Attempt to catch other absconding members
Interrogation revealed that Behra was living in a rented room near Hyderabad Gate in Lanka area of Varanasi. It was here that he came in contact with his colleagues of Bihar and planned to rob a precious jewelery shop in West Bengal. On August 2, Behra went to Kolkata by bus, where his colleagues welcomed him. The next day, armed with arms and two stolen motorcycles, the gang carried out the robbery. After leaving the motorcycles, he ran towards Ranchi in a sports utility vehicle (SUV) and later resorted to some other vehicles to reach Varanasi. The STF said that the robbed jewelery was distributed among the gang members and some parts were sold to their acquaintances in Varanasi and Jaunpur for lakhs of rupees. The STF said that further investigation is going on and efforts are being made to catch other absconding members of the gang. Both the arrested people have been kept in Kerakat police station in Jaunpur. The West Bengal Police will take the accused into custody for further investigation.
