UP Crime: Police arrested a student of class 11 after a month in the case of strangling 50-year-old e-rickshaw driver Sangam Lal in Gonda district of Uttar Pradesh. This sensational incident took place in the Nawabganj area on the morning of August 27, where Sangam Lal’s body was found lying in the bushes. There was no clue in the initial investigation, neither a witness nor a clear purpose, which made the matter a ‘blind slaughter’. According to the police, the student came to Ayodhya from Jhansi for worship, where Sangam Lal took her out and forced her to do unnatural acts. In protest against this, the student killed him in a deserted place. Senior Superintendent of Police Vineet Jaiswal described the case as very challenging and said that the matter was not related for traditional reasons. Sangam Lal went missing during work in Ayodhya on 26 August. His family informed the police. Police reached the spot and conducted a thorough investigation. The post -mortem confirmed that he was strangled to death.

Three special teams revealed

The personal belongings of the deceased, including the Aadhaar card wallet, were found thrown in a nearby bushes. No clear robbery, no prior threats and no personal quarrels showing the circumstances forced investigators to struggle with minimum clues. To resolve the case, the police formed three special teams, including Nawabganj Police, Special Operations Group (SOG) and monitoring units under the supervision of ASP (West) Radheshyam Rai and Tarabganj Circle Officer Umeshwar Prabhat Singh. Field unit, dog squads and forensic teams investigated the spot for evidence. CCTV footage of Ayodhya railway station and surrounding areas was closely analyzed for several days. Manual and technical evidence were collected to reach the suspect and the clues were verified.

The accused handed over to the Juvenile Justice Board

According to officials, the success came out about a month later on September 22, when the teams identified a teenager from Babina in Jhansi and caught him, who was living in a hostel there. During interrogation, it was found that the accused, who is a student of class 11, went to Ayodhya alone by Utsarg Express to visit the temple on 26 August. He rode in Sangam Lal’s e-rickshaw, and the driver felt that the boy had enough time to see. So he kept roaming her in search of a secluded place for hours. According to the police, when the driver pressured the boy to do unnatural acts, both sides got into a fight. In this clash, the teenager strangled the driver with a pot. After the incident, the accused threw the deceased’s wallet and ran away. The police have taken the teenager into custody and presented it before the Kishore Justice Board.

The wallet became important evidence

The wallet recovered from the spot proved to be an important link in reaching the suspect. Investigators are investigating whether the accused had any associates or assistance in planning or executing this act. Jaiswal credited this quick solution to a mixture of modern technology, monitoring, deployment of dog squads and a mixture of traditional check -up techniques. He said that even in cases of blind murder, where there is no clear purpose or witness, results can be achieved in a very short time from a combination of careful investigation, evidence tracking and inter-departmental coordination. Police said that the teenager caught on the charge of murder has been sent to the reform home.
