Modi Odisha visit: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated the indigenous 4G network of BSNL from Odisha. Giving a big boost to telecom infrastructure, Prime Minister Modi on Saturday inaugurated the ‘Swadeshi’ 4G stack of BSNL, which entered India’s prestigious league of telecom equipment -making countries. On the occasion of the silver birth anniversary of Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited, the PM also started more than 97,500 mobile 4G towers including 92,600 4G technology sites of telecom service provider. These towers have been built at a cost of about Rs 37,000 crore with indigenous technology. The launch of indigenous 4G stack marked India’s entry into the league of countries such as Denmark, Sweden, South Korea and China. An official said that the India-made network is ready-based, ready for the future and can be easily upgraded to 5G.
60,000 crore gift
An official statement stated that the introduction of indigenous 4G network is a transformational step in line with the Prime Minister’s view of Digital India, which paves the way for 5G upgradation and integration of BSNL along with bridging digital division and empowering rural communities. With this launch, more than 26,700 unrelated villages will get connections in the remote border and leftist extremist affected areas including 2,472 in Odisha. These towers are powered by solar energy, which makes them one step ahead in the largest group of green telecom sites in India and one step in the durable infrastructure. Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday laid the foundation stone and inauguration of development projects worth more than Rs 60,000 crore from Jharsuguda in Odisha to areas like telecom, railway and higher education. Modi laid the foundation stone for the expansion of eight IITs across the country, which will create capacity for 10,000 new students in the next four years.
Odisha moving beyond double speed
He inaugurated more than 97,500 4G telecom towers manufactured by BSNL’s indigenous technology. He inaugurated the 5 km long flyover built at a cost of Rs 273 crore in Sambalpur city. This was the sixth visit to Odisha of the Prime Minister in 15 months since the BJP came to power in the state in June 2024. Modi’s Jharsuguda tour is taking place after a gap of seven years. He came to the city on September 22, 2018 to inaugurate the second commercial airport of Odisha. On this occasion, Modi said that his government is for the service of the poor, women, backward. The goal of his government is to provide basic facilities to every person. Said that four crore poor families were given pucca houses. The life of generations becomes easier by getting the poor house. Modi also flagged off Amrit Bharat Express. Said that Odisha is moving at the speed of double engine.
