Minister of State for Home Harsh Sanghvi said on Saturday that some victims were also handed over Rs 5.51 crore. The victims lost this amount after being cheated by the gangs operated from Dubai, Vietnam and Cambodia. He said that the state police has launched a campaign against cyber criminals who looted the hard earned money of the people. He said that this gang used to get their bank accounts and SIM cards by luring the common citizens 1.5-2 percent commission and misused it for cyber fraud. The gang has committed 1,549 crimes across the country and cheated about Rs 804 crore from citizens.

The victim was under house arrest for 12 days

Sanghvi said that 65 mobile phones, 447 debit cards, 529 bank account kits, 686 SIM cards and 16 POS (sales centers) have been recovered from the gang. During the program organized at the Cyber ​​Center of Excellence here, Sanghvi returned Rs 5.51 crore to the victims of cyber fraud. One of these senior citizens of Vadodara were promised to profit in the name of reputed insurance companies. The victim got his Rs 4.91 crore back. In another case, a senior citizen of Ahmedabad was arrested digitally by threatening to implicate it in a drug case. He was kept under house arrest on Skype.

48 lakh rupees seized

The police seized Rs 48 lakh from cyber criminals in this case. The money owner was returned. Apart from this, 12.70 lakh rupees were also recovered by a family through a fake trading app called Rockcreek and returned. The Sanghvi appealed to the public to adopt cyber security shield and call the cyber helpline 1930 within the “Golden Hour” before being a victim of any cyber fraud. The minister said that there is no legal provision like digital arrest in India. No one should be afraid of the calls of the copyers who threaten legal action. The minister said that if a person is a victim of cyber fraud, then he should immediately inform the police.
