Police said five people, including a two-year-old child, were killed and 10 others were seriously injured in a face-to-face collision between a van and the state transport corporation bus on Sunday. Police said the accident occurred in Kheri town when a van carrying about 15 passengers collided with a bus coming from the opposite direction. Police said that two of the dead have been identified as Sunil (25), a resident of van driver Pipariya village and two -year -old Sarfaraz, a resident of Dateli village. The police have identified two more dead as Budharam and Ramashankar, while the fifth deceased has not been identified yet. Seven seriously injured were immediately referred to Lucknow, while the remaining three are undergoing treatment in the district hospital.

Talking to reporters at the district hospital after meeting the injured, Kheri’s DM Durga Shakti Nagpal said that the accident took place at Oyal Mor (Lakhimpur-Sitapur highway), where traffic on both sides was transferred to the same lane due to repair work on the second lane. Kheri DM said that he has talked to doctors to provide best possible treatment to the injured. Said that she will ensure that the affected families get maximum compensation. She also said that she will visit the accident site to find out measures to avoid such accidents in future. Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has also mourned the loss of life and property in the accident. Among the injured, Babli (35) aka Nisha wife Salman, Salman (40), Naz (3) daughter Salman, Pushpa daughter Lalababu Yadav Sirsia Pipra Kothi Bihar, Dilkush daughter Lalababu, Ramlal son Jagdish and Sharda (32) son Itwari Dhakherwa Post Post Post Post is undergoing treatment in the hospital.
