MP Hawala Loot Case: The Special Investigation Team (SIT) formed by police officers in Jabalpur, Madhya Pradesh, arrested head constable Rajesh Janghela late on Wednesday night in the hawala money robbery case. So far, 11 policemen including a woman police officer have been arrested. Police officer said that head constable Rajesh Janghela was arrested late on Wednesday night. He will be presented in court for police remand. 10 accused, including Sub Divisional Officer of Police (SDOP) Pooja Pandey, were arrested on Tuesday night and have been sent to police custody till October 17. On the night of 8-9 October, Pooja Pandey was on patrolling and checking duty on Siladehi bypass of National Highway No. 44 in Seoni. There were also 10 policemen with him.
The car was stopped in the name of checking
It is alleged that policemen stopped a car going from Katni in the neighboring state of Maharashtra to Nagpur in the name of checking and looted Rs 2.96 crore. It is said that this money was from Hawala. The case of hawala operator was not registered in this case. When this matter reached the higher authorities, after investigation, the Lakhanwada police registered a case against the SDOP and 10 others on October 14 under various crimes including robbery and kidnapping. The officer said that so far the SIT has seized Rs 2.70 crore, which includes Rs 1.45 crore from SDOP Pooja Pandey and Sub Inspector Arpit Bhairam. An amount of Rs 1.25 crore was seized from Akash Jain and Aman Gurnani of Nagpur.
Policeman’s car also seized
SIT in-charge Jitendra Singh told PTI on Thursday that along with the two vehicles used in the arrest of hawala operators on the night of October 8-9, the WagonR car of SDOP reader Ravindra Uikey has also been seized. He said that a map of the crime scene has been made and all the people involved are being thoroughly interrogated. The 11 people arrested in the case include suspended SDOP Pooja Pandey, SI Arpit Bhairam, SDOP office driver Ritesh Verma, Reader Head Constable Ravindra Uike, Head Constable Makhan Inwati, Constable Yogendra Chaurasia, Jagdish Yadav, Gunman Kedar Baghel, Subhash Sadaphal and Constable Neeraj Rajput of Bandol Police Station. A SIT was formed under the leadership of Gupta. The hawala money case is being investigated by the crime branch under the leadership of Jabalpur ASP Jitendra Singh.
