Ingredients for making gram flour barfi

  • Gram flour
  • desi ghee
  • Sugar
  • Water
  • cardamom powder
  • pistachios/almonds

Method to make gram flour barfi

To make gram flour barfi, take a pan and add ghee to it and heat it lightly. After this, add gram flour to it and fry it on low flame till it becomes light golden in colour. When the gram flour is roasted well, take it out in a plate and keep it at a place where it does not cool down quickly. Now add sugar and water in the same pan and heat it. Boil it until the sugar dissolves completely. Now add cardamom powder to it and then turn off the gas. After this, slowly mix the roasted hot gram flour in the syrup. Keep stirring it frequently so that lumps do not form. When the mixture becomes thick in some time, grease a plate or tray with a little ghee and spread the mixture in the tray. Add chopped pistachios or almonds on top and press lightly. When the mixture is slightly hot, cut it into barfi shapes with a knife. Let this happen for a few hours and then on the occasion of Dhanteras, offer it to God and feed everyone.
