Highest Grossing Film of 2025: Currently, only one name is buzzing at the box office and that is ‘Kantara Chapter 1’. This film of 42 year old superstar Rishabh Shetty has made a record by becoming the highest grossing film of the year 2025. Till now Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’ was considered to be the biggest hit of this year. However, now the crown of number one film has gone to ‘Kantara Chapter 1’.
Chhava’s record broken
Vicky Kaushal and Akshaye Khanna’s ‘Chaava’, released in February this year, won the hearts of fans with its fantastic action and emotional drama. This film had earned Rs 807 crore at the box office. But ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ has left it behind and has crossed the figure of Rs 800 crore.

A blast in two weeks
The film’s production house Homble Films recently informed that this period action drama had earned Rs 717 crore worldwide in just 2 weeks. In the third weekend, Rs 38 crore were collected in India and in the next six days, another Rs 92 crore were added from the global box office. Overall, ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ has earned Rs 809 crore. This means that now Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava’ has slipped to second place in terms of earnings this year.
Visuals won hearts
‘Kantara Chapter 1’ is ruling not only the box office but also the hearts. In the film, Rishabh Shetty has taken charge of writing and direction along with acting. This film is a prequel to the 2022 superhit ‘Kantara: A Legend’. This time the story is even more thrilling and full of suspense. It shows how divine powers protect nature and faith when man’s greed increases. Apart from Rishabh Shetty, the performance of actors like Rukmini Vasanth, Jayaram and Gulshan Devaiah in the film is also very good.

This year is no less than a golden chapter for Rishabh Shetty. ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ has not only broken the box office records but has once again shown the power of South cinema to the world. Now the eyes of the fans are on whether any other movie will be able to break the record of ‘Kantara Chapter 1’ in the coming months, or whether this one will retain the record of the highest grossing film of 2025.
