Chhath Puja: In view of the possibility of gathering of thousands of devotees at different ghats for Chhath Puja, Delhi Traffic Police imposed traffic restrictions and diversions.

Chhat Puja: Anticipating the gathering of thousands of devotees at different ghats for Chhath Puja, Delhi Traffic Police on Sunday imposed traffic restrictions and diversions in many parts of the city. According to the traffic advisory issued by the traffic police, traffic will be affected on the roads adjacent to the major Chhath Puja ghats from Monday afternoon to Tuesday morning. Due to which people have been advised to avoid going near the ghats and use public transport as far as possible. It has been said in the advisory that more than 45 thousand devotees are likely to gather at Gandhi Nagar Chhath Pujan Samiti Boat Ghat near Purana Loha Bridge in East and North-East Delhi, Purvanchal Nav Nirman Sangat Ghat and Satyamev Jayate Ghat near Geeta Colony.

Devotees will gather in large numbers at Chhath Ghats

It has been said in the advisory that a large number of devotees can also reach the Chhath Ghat built near DND Yamuna Khadar and Shastri Park, in such a situation the traffic speed near Geeta Colony, IP Extension and Shastri Park is expected to be very slow. According to the advisory, commercial vehicles will not be allowed on GT Road from Shastri Park to Yudhishthir Setu in Bhajanpura between 5 pm to 7 pm on Monday and between 5 am to 7 am on Tuesday. Delhi Police has said that Laxmi Nagar to Kailash Nagar road and Shantivan Loop in Gandhi Nagar will remain closed from 5 pm to 6 pm on Monday and from 5 am to 7 am on Tuesday. Traffic will be diverted towards the unused canal road. The advisory said that traffic going towards Sonia Vihar in Khajuri Khas will be diverted from Nanaksar towards Old Wazirabad Road, while vehicles from Sonia Vihar border will be diverted from MCD Toll towards Sabhapur village. It said that there is a possibility of huge crowd at many ghats including Shyam Ghat located in Jagatpur in Central and North Delhi, Shani Mandir Ghat and Vasudev Ghat near ISBT.

Three lakh devotees expected to come to Bhola Ghat

According to the advisory, people may have to face heavy road jams in Majnu Ka Tila, Burari, Wazirabad Road and areas around Yamuna. It has been said that two and a half to three lakh devotees are likely to gather at Bhola Ghat of Kalindi Kunj in South and South-East Delhi. At the same time, huge crowd can also gather at Khasra No. 1575 in Aya Nagar, Shiv Ghat near Shri Ram Chowk and Asthal Temple in Sangam Vihar. According to the advisory, vehicular movement may remain slow on MB Road from Lal Kuan to Tughlakabad Extension, Khadar Kalindi Kunj Road, Agar Canal Road and Road No. 13. Delhi Police has said that in north-west and outer Delhi, there is a possibility of huge crowd at Bhalswa Lake near the golf course and UP Bihar Ekta Mahamanch near Majlis Park metro station. There may be changes in traffic routes near Bawana, Holambi Kalan, Narela and some parts of Outer Ring Road.

Leave home before time to go to the station

Traffic police have said that a large number of people are likely to gather at Vishwas Park in Raja Puri, Chhath Puja Park in Mangolpuri, West Delhi and Surya Upasana Park in Dabri. Traffic may slow down in the evening on Raja Puri Main Road, Dabri-Palam Road and Mangolpuri. Delhi Police said that no restrictions will be applicable on the routes leading to Old Delhi Railway Station, New Delhi Railway Station, Nizamuddin Railway Station and ISBT, but passengers have been advised to take extra time to travel in view of possible delays. Delhi Police has advised people to use Delhi Metro and other public transport for travel.
