Abhishek Banerjee: Once again politics has started regarding NRC. In West Bengal, a person named Pradeep Kar has committed suicide due to fear of NRC coming. Now TMC is attacking BJP in this matter. TMC national general secretary Abhishek Banerjee met Pradeep Kar’s family in Panihati, West Bengal on Wednesday. A day earlier, 57-year-old Pradeep had committed suicide. He had left a note in which he blamed anxiety over the National Register of Citizens (NRC) for his suicide.

Banerjee angry at Election Commission and BJP

Mamata Banerjee’s nephew Abhishek Banerjee was also accompanied by party MP Partha Bhowmik, party chief whip in West Bengal Assembly Nirmal Ghosh and youth leader Debraj Chakraborty. During this, he met Pradeep Kar’s family and expressed his condolences. The TMC leader intensified his attack on BJP and the Election Commission regarding this incident. He directly held Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar responsible for this death.

Banerjee demanded, “Pradeep Kar died due to concerns over NRC and SIR. FIR should be registered against Amit Shah and Gyanesh Kumar.” He alleged that the Center and the Election Commission are trying to exclude genuine voters under the guise of Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

Mamta got angry with the announcement of SIR in West Bengal, said- TMC will take to the streets if names of eligible people are removed

CM Mamta also attacked

Earlier on Tuesday, Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee held BJP responsible and accused it of using NRC as a weapon to spread fear and scare the poor and vulnerable people. He alleged that BJP wants to spread panic so that people lose their rights. Meanwhile, BJP hit back and urged political parties not to draw any hasty conclusions. The reason behind the death should be determined only by the investigating agencies and not by political rhetoric. This incident has started protests against SIR in Bengal.

Pradeep was upset with SIR announcement

Police Commissioner Muralidhar said that a diary has been recovered from the deceased Pradeep, in which Pradeep has written that NRC is responsible for his death. Pradeep Kar’s family told that Pradeep was restless after the announcement of SIR on Monday. After having dinner at night he went to sleep. In the morning he was found hanging in the room. The family says that Pradeep was afraid that his name would be removed from the voter list on the pretext of SIR. After this, with the arrival of NRC, his citizenship will be taken away. At present the police is investigating the matter.
