President Draupadi Murmu: President Draupadi Murmu has called upon the youth to come forward for a developed nation. President Draupadi Murmu on Tuesday called on the youth to come forward to contribute to the goal of making India a developed nation by 2047. President Murmu is on a three-day visit to Uttarakhand. During the 20th convocation of Kumaon University in Nainital, the President said that the government has set a target of making India a developed nation by 2047. The students and youth of Kumaon University have to play an important role in achieving this goal. He said that India is one of the fastest growing major economies in the world as the government has taken several policy initiatives to ensure continued progress in the country.
Research, innovation and entrepreneurship should be encouraged
The President said that these initiatives are creating innumerable opportunities for the youth. He said that higher education institutions should take all necessary steps to encourage the youth so that they can take advantage of these opportunities. He said that education is the foundation of development of any nation and hence education should not only develop the intelligence and skills of the students but also strengthen their moral strength and character. He said that education not only makes us self-reliant, but also teaches us to be humble and contribute to the development of society and country. President Murmu urged the students to dedicate their education to serving the nation and helping the deprived sections of the society. He said that it is important to promote research, innovation and entrepreneurship in the country. Said that he was happy to know that Kumaon University is committed to excellence in education, research and innovation.
Students advised to visit nearby villages
President Murmu said that multidisciplinary approach is extremely important for education and research. He expressed confidence that the university will move forward with this vision. He said that the Himalayas are known for their life-sustaining resources and it is everyone’s responsibility to conserve and promote these resources. President Murmu said that he was happy to know that Kumaon University is making conscious efforts to protect the environment. He said that as an educational institution, Kumaon University also has some social responsibilities. He urged the faculty members and students of the university to visit nearby villages, understand the problems of the villagers and make every possible effort to find their solutions.
