Roof Collapses in Danapur: A tragic accident has happened in Danapur, Bihar. Five members of a family, including three children, died when the roof of a house collapsed in Akilpur police station area last night. Police gave this information on Monday. A senior official said that the incident happened around 9.45 pm on Sunday night when the entire family was sleeping together. Saran Senior Superintendent of Police Kumar Ashish said, “Five members of the family, including three children, died in the roof collapse incident. As soon as the information was received, a police team reached the spot and pulled out the bodies from the debris. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem.”
Death of entire family including 2 year old girl
According to media reports, the names of the deceased are Bablu Khan, his wife Roshan Khatoon, their one son Chand and two daughters Ruksar and Chandni. The youngest daughter Chandni was only 2 years old. According to the villagers, the family was sleeping after having food as usual. Then suddenly the roof of the house collapsed. It is being told that Bablu Khan was the only earning person of the family. Due to poverty he could not get his house repaired. There is mourning in the entire village due to this accident. Another family lost its life due to financial constraints.
The house was found under Indira Awas
The dilapidated house was built under Indira Awas Yojana. Villagers told that this house was built 30 years ago under Indira Awas Yojana. With time, the house had become old and dilapidated. Due to recent rains and humidity, the walls had become weak and there were cracks in the roof. Due to financial constraints, the family was unable to afford the repairs. Villagers said that many such Indira Awas houses are now dilapidated and need to be examined.

After the incident, the local administration has started investigation. Police station in-charge Vinod said that the bodies have been sent for post-mortem. Administrative officials have assured government assistance to the victim’s family. This area comes under the revenue district of Patna. The officer said that the police has sent all the documents related to the incident to the concerned district administration to provide adequate compensation to the families of the deceased. The question is who is responsible for this tragic accident – the administration or the poverty of the family. The administration should now inspect the houses built under the scheme.
