2 States: ‘2 States’, made under the direction of Abhishek Verma, is one of the best and hit films of the year 2014. People loved the chemistry of Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor in the film. Made with a budget of only Rs 50 crore, this film did a business of around Rs 173 crore at the box office. Based on Chetan Bhagat’s novel, ‘2 States: The Story of My Marriage’, the songs and scenes of this film are still people’s favourite. But you will be surprised to know that the makers wanted to cast another pair in ‘2 States’. Not only this, someone else is also going to direct the film.
These stars were the first choice
Actually, Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra were the first choices of the makers for ‘2 States’. Shahrukh Khan has given many superhit films in his illustrious career. He has once again captured the box office with blockbuster films like ‘Pathan’ and ‘Jawaan’. He also received his first National Award for Best Actor for Jawan. However, the interesting thing is that King Khan has also rejected some such films, which later proved to be big hits. Alia Bhatt and Arjun Kapoor’s film is also named among them. Actually, initially there was talk of casting Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra for ‘2 States’. This was revealed by writer Chetan Bhagat himself.

Directors would also be different
In an interview, Chetan Bhagat told that there was a time when Vishal Bhardwaj was going to direct 2 States. At that time the names of Shahrukh Khan, Saif Ali Khan and Priyanka Chopra were being discussed. When Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt were later signed for the film, he was a bit surprised. Chetan said- To be honest, when I was told that there is a new director and the hero and heroine are Arjun Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. Till then he had released only one film. But later it seemed that this pair looked quite fresh and young. If there were bigger stars, perhaps the film would not have given the same feel.
The film was a super hit
‘2 States’ became a superhit at the box office after its release and was praised by critics too. The audience liked the chemistry of Arjun and Alia very much. At the same time, director Abhishek Verma also received the Filmfare Best Debut Director Award for this film. On the other hand, the pairing of Shahrukh Khan and Priyanka Chopra was last seen in Farhan Akhtar’s ‘Don 2’. By the way, Shahrukh Khan will soon be seen in Siddharth Anand’s action thriller film King. This film will be released next year. In this, Shahrukh will share the screen with his daughter Suhana Khan for the first time. Abhishek Bachchan and Deepika Padukone will also be seen in King.
