Truck hits tempo, six devotees killed, 14 injured

Jodhpur road accident: Six people died, while 14 were seriously injured in a horrific road accident in Jodhpur, Rajasthan in the early hours of Sunday.

Jodhpur road accident: Six people died, while 14 were seriously injured in a horrific road accident in Jodhpur, Rajasthan early on Sunday. All the injured have been admitted to the nearest hospital. After the accident, there was an outcry at the spot. Long queues of vehicles formed on both sides of the road. Traffic was disrupted. Police reached the spot after getting the information and got the accident vehicles removed and traffic started. A tempo loaded with pilgrims collided with a truck loaded with grain sacks on the Jodhpur-Balesar section of National Highway 125, killing six people and injuring 14. This accident happened near Khari Beri village of Jodhpur district. Balesar SHO Mulsingh Bhati said that the tempo going to Ramdevra carrying about 20 pilgrims from Banaskantha and Dhansura areas of Gujarat was hit by a speeding trailer coming from the opposite direction.

Devotees were going to see Ramdevra

Bhati said that three women and three others died on the spot. Their bodies have been kept in the mortuary of Balesar Hospital. 14 injured were taken to the hospital, from where they were referred to MDM Hospital in Jodhpur. SHO said that a case has been registered. All the deceased and injured are said to be residents of Sabarkantha district of Gujarat. The accident happened at around 5:30 am on National Highway-125 near Khari Beri village. Balesar police station in-charge Mool Singh Bhati said that the collision was so strong that the front part of the tempo was completely shattered, while the truck also overturned. Mahendra, sitting in the front of the tempo, told that all the devotees had come from Sabarkantha district of Gujarat to have darshan of Ramdevra.

There was screaming at the scene

After the accident, three devotees died on the spot, while two died during treatment in Jodhpur. Immediately after the accident, drivers passing through the highway stopped their vehicles and helped the injured and informed the police and ambulance. Three ambulances from Balesar, Agolai and Highway Services immediately reached the spot. The injured were first taken to Balesar CHC, where after first aid, all were referred to Jodhpur. The police have kept the bodies of the deceased in the mortuary of Balesar CHC and have started searching for the truck driver. There was hue and cry at the spot after the accident. Nearby drivers also took active part in the rescue work. Police said that investigation into the accident is ongoing. As soon as the information about the accident was received, the family members also reached the spot crying.
