Delhi Blast: The brother of Al Falah University President Javed Siddiqui, who was under investigation in the Delhi blasts, has been arrested by Madhya Pradesh Police from Hyderabad in connection with the financial fraud in Mhow. Hamood Ahmed Siddiqui, accused of committing a large-scale financial fraud in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh 25 years ago, was arrested from Hyderabad on Sunday, officials said on Monday. Mhow Sub Divisional Officer of Police Lalit Singh Sikarwar told PTI that Hamood had gone missing from Mhow in 2000 after setting up a fake private bank and promising hundreds of residents double their deposits. He absconded with his family soon after the scam came to light, prompting authorities to search for him for decades.

Helpers also under investigation

The accused was arrested in Hyderabad on Sunday. According to sources, he was maintaining a low profile while working in share trading. Investigators are now examining Hamoud’s contacts and activities over the past few years to find out who might have helped him while he was underground. Notably, the main accused in the Delhi blasts, Dr Omar Un Nabi, was a student of Al Falah University, of which Javed Siddiqui is the president. Delhi Police has issued two summons to the Chairman of Al Falah University in connection with the ongoing investigation into the Faridabad terror module case and two cases registered against the university for forgery and cheating, an official said on Monday.

Summons to the University President

The summons have been sent after investigators found that the statement of the university president is important to clarify several discrepancies related to the functioning of the university and the activities of individuals associated with the institution. Police sources said the issuance of summons to the accused is part of the ongoing investigation into the blast that took place near the Red Fort last week. In which 13 people lost their lives and many others were injured. It is believed that many suspects related to the blast had connections to the university. NIA has arrested many people in the Delhi blast case. NIA raids are going on across the country.
