Sholay-The Final Cut: If you are a fan of Bollywood’s classic cinema, then this news is no less than a surprise for you. Actually, one of India’s most iconic films ‘Sholay’ is ready to hit the big screen once again. However, this time this film is coming with a twist which you have never seen. You will be happy to know that ‘Sholay – The Final Cut’ starring Amitabh Bachchan, Dharmendra, Jaya Bachchan, Hema Malini, Amjad Khan and Sanjeev Kumar has been completely restored in 4K. This includes the real climax of the film.
When will it be released?
Ramesh Sippy’s ‘Sholay – The Final Cut’ with the original climax is scheduled to release on 12th December, 2025 across 1500 screens across India. This film, which was released in 1975 and celebrated its golden jubilee on 15 August this year, is still the favorite of crores of people. While announcing on social media, the Film Heritage Foundation wrote that no film restored on such a large scale has ever been released before. This is the historic comeback of Sholay.

the biggest surprise
Script writers Salim Khan and Javed Akhtar had told many times that in the film, Sanjeev Kumar i.e. Thakur was going to kill Gabbar with his thorny shoes. However, since the film was being released during the Emergency, the Censor Board demanded the makers to change its climax. The result was that the audience saw that version of the film in which Thakur beats Gabbar badly, but instead of killing him, he hands him over to the police. Actually, being an ex-police officer, he could not take the law into his own hands. Now for the first time people will be able to see the climax which was actually written for ‘Sholay’.

The year of August 15, 1975 was very special for Indian cinema. Memorable films like ‘Deewar’, ‘Aandhi’, ‘Nishant’, ‘Chupke Chupke’ and ‘Chhoti Si Baat’ were also released that year.
