Tamilnadu accident: Six people died in a collision between two private buses near Idaikal in Tenkasi district on Monday in Tamil Nadu.

Tamilnadu accident: In Tamil Nadu, six people died in a collision between two private buses near Idaikal in Tenkasi district on Monday. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin has announced a compensation of Rs 3 lakh each to the families of the deceased and Rs 1 lakh each to the seriously injured. Whereas, an amount of Rs 50,000 has been ordered to be given to the minor injured from the Chief Minister’s General Relief Fund. Police said that six people, including five women and one man, died on the spot and 56 were injured. The accident occurred when two private buses coming from opposite directions collided head-on. Police sources said that one bus was going from Madurai towards Senkottai, while the other was coming from Tenkasi towards Kovilpatti/Shankarankovil.

The accident happened due to driver’s negligence

Police, fire and rescue personnel and local residents conducted a rescue operation using several ambulances to take the injured to hospital. Preliminary investigation revealed that the accident occurred due to rash and negligent driving by one of the bus drivers. It is suspected that one of the buses might have driven in the wrong direction while overtaking. The investigation is ongoing, which also includes review of CCTV footage and eyewitness statements. He said that the exact reasons can be given once the investigation is completed. CM Stalin said that he immediately contacted the district in-charge minister Ramachandran and directed him to reach the spot. The CM said that I have ordered the District Collector to go to the government hospital and ensure proper high-quality treatment for the injured.

Wish for full recovery of the injured

AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami also expressed his condolences through his social media handle. He said that I was deeply shocked and saddened to hear the news of the accident. Said that this morning there was a head-on collision between two private buses in Idakal Durashmiyapuram Kamarajapuram area near Kadayanallur in Tenkasi district, in which 6 people including 5 women were killed and about 56 others were injured. All the injured are undergoing treatment in the government hospital. He also wished for the complete recovery of the people undergoing treatment in the hospital. Palaniswami said that I request the DMK government to provide him proper medical treatment.
