UP News: A shocking theft case has come to light in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh. A 70-year-old man, along with his own daughter-in-law, stole jewelery worth about Rs 50 lakh from his daughter’s house.
UP News: A shocking theft case has come to light in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh. A 70-year-old man, along with his own daughter-in-law, drugged his daughter and stole jewelery worth Rs 50 lakh from her house. In this regard, the police said that the accused father and daughter-in-law had arrived after planning the incident in advance. After coming to know about the incident, the victim immediately lodged a complaint. The police have arrested the daughter-in-law, while the elderly accused is absconding. Police is raiding various places in search of the absconding accused. The police have intensified the investigation of the case. Police said that the theft incident took place in Dargah Sharif police station area of Bahraich district, where accused Ravindra Khaitan along with his daughter-in-law Shivani Khaitan and her 16-year-old son had come to stay at the house of his daughter Soni Bansal. Soni is the wife of local businessman Manoj Tulsian. She lives in DSL Green City Colony under the same police station area.
Husband came to know after returning home
In his complaint, Manoj Tulsian alleged that on November 18, he was at his shop with his son. When he returned home he found his wife unconscious. He said that initially the wife was treated in Bahraich and when her condition did not improve, she was shifted to Apollo Hospital in Lucknow. Tulsian said that soon after his wife took him to Lucknow, his in-laws left the house without informing anyone. When the family returned to Bahraich on November 21, they found that gold, silver and diamond jewelery worth about Rs 50 lakh had been stolen from their locker. Additional Superintendent of Police (City) Ashok Kumar Singh said that based on the complaint, a case was registered against the three accused on November 22. Multiple police teams examined mobile phone details, CCTV footage and other technical evidence during the investigation.
Shivani got tempted after seeing expensive jewellery.
The ASP said that on Monday, police arrested Shivani Khaitan near Gullabir Temple and recovered stolen jewelery from her possession. The elderly man and the minor boy are absconding. Police preliminary investigation revealed that Shivani was tempted by the expensive jewelery and after inspecting the house, planned the theft. Police said he mixed depressant pills in his sister-in-law’s tea, causing her to faint before running away with the valuables. Police also learned that the accused had tried to sell jewelery at various shops, but failed as the jewelers asked for identity cards. Shivani has been sent to jail. Police said that the matter is being investigated. Soon the absconding accused will also be arrested.
