41 Naxalites Surrendered: On Wednesday, 41 Naxalites surrendered, out of which 32 had a total reward of Rs 1.19 crore.

41 Naxalites Surrendered: Officials said that 41 Naxalites surrendered on Wednesday in Bijapur district of Chhattisgarh, out of which 32 had a total reward of Rs 1.19 crore. Bijapur Superintendent of Police Jitendra Kumar Yadav said that these Naxalites, including 12 women, surrendered before senior police officers here. He said that he has been impressed by the government’s new surrender and rehabilitation policy and “Poona Maragem” (social reintegration rehabilitation drive of Bastar Range Police).

Naxalites were associated with different organizations

He said that four of them were members of PLGA (People’s Liberation Guerrilla Army) Battalion No. 1 and different companies of Maoists, three were members of area committees, 11 were party members of platoons and area committees, two were PLGA members, four were militia platoon commanders, one deputy commander, six were militia platoon members and the rest were associated with illegal CPI (Maoist) frontal organizations. The official said that out of these 41 cadres, 39 belonged to the South Sub-Zonal Bureau of the Maoists. All of them were associated with Dandakaranya Special Zonal Committee, Telangana State Committee and Dhamtari-Gariaband-Nuapara division of the Ban organization.

The surrendered cadre have expressed faith in the Constitution and promised to live a dignified and secure life within the democratic framework. He said that under the rehabilitation policy, every cadre was given immediate financial assistance of Rs 50,000 as incentive. He said that those who surrendered were Pandru Hapka alias Mohan (37), Bandi Hapka (35), Lakhu Korsa (37), Badru Punem (35), Sukhram Hemla (27), Manjula Hemla (25), Mangli Madvi alias Shanti (29), Jairam Kadiam (28) and Pando Madkam alias Chandni (35), who had a reward of Rs 8 lakh each. Apart from this, there was a reward of Rs 5 lakh each on three cadres, Rs 2 lakh each on 12 cadres and Rs 1 lakh each on 8 cadres.

Appeal to Maoists to give up violence

Police said that the rehabilitation policy of the state government is encouraging Maoists to leave violence and return to the mainstream. He appealed to the remaining Maoists to leave the path of violence. He said, “Maoists should give up their misguided and violent ideology and return to the society without any fear. The ‘Poona Margame’ drive ensures a safe, dignified and self-reliant future for those who surrender.”

The SP said that with this surrender, a total of 790 Maoist cadres in the district have left violence and joined the mainstream since January 2024. He said that during the same period, 202 Naxalites were killed in separate encounters in the district and 1,031 cadres were arrested. According to the police, in the last 23 months, more than 2,200 Naxalites, including top cadre, have surrendered in Chhattisgarh.
