Karnataka News: A fierce fight broke out between two groups in Chikmagalur district of Karnataka. Sharp weapons were used in the fight.

Karnataka News: A fierce fight broke out between two groups in Chikmagalur district of Karnataka. Sharp weapons were used in the fight. During the fight, a Congress worker was killed while many were injured. Police said on Saturday that the deceased has been identified as Ganesh Gowda (38), who was a member of the gram panchayat. Police said that the incident took place on Friday night in Sakharayapatna of Kadur taluk. At around 9.30 pm, a fight broke out between two groups over a banner near a monastery. In the fight, sticks and sharp weapons were used heavily by both the groups. Due to which many members of both the parties have suffered serious head injuries. Police said that all the injured have been admitted to Chikmagalur District Hospital.

Four teams formed to arrest the accused

A senior police officer said that during the clash, Gowda was attacked with a sharp weapon. Police said that people of the same group had earlier clashed near a bar in Sakharayapatna and about half an hour after that dispute, the attack took place near the monastery. Superintendent of Police Vikram Amathe said Gowda was murdered on Friday night and the police visited the spot with a team of Scene of Crime Officer. He told reporters that we are verifying the motive behind the incident. Four teams have been formed to trace the accused. Two people involved in the clash are currently admitted in the hospital and the jail guard is deployed there. Action will be taken on the basis of complaint and investigation. A case has been registered at Sakharayapatna Police Station.

Home Minister ordered investigation

Police said that the exact sequence and motive of the incidents will be known only after the arrest of the culprits. Police said that further investigation into the incident will continue. In Bengaluru, Home Minister G Parameshwara said that investigation will reveal the reasons behind the attack. He said who was involved in the incident and who is behind it will be known after investigation. Police said that efforts are on to arrest the suspects. District in-charge minister KJ George described the incident as tragic for the district and termed the murder due to differences as heinous and condemnable. He said that the police will ensure that the culprits are punished and directed the officials to take steps to prevent such incidents in future.
