Police reached the spot and started relief and rescue operations. The injured soldier was taken to the nearest hospital. There was a massive head-on collision between a truck and a police vehicle in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh on Wednesday. The collision was so severe that the police vehicle was blown to pieces. Four constables of Morena’s bomb disposal squad who were traveling in the vehicle died on the spot and another policeman was seriously injured. A police officer said that the accident occurred at around 4 am on National Highway-44 between Bandri and Malthon in Sagar district.

The squad was returning from duty from Balaghat.

The vehicle of Morena bomb disposal team was returning from duty from Balaghat. Bandri police station in-charge Inspector Sumer Jagat said that the vehicle carrying the personnel of the bomb detection and neutralization squad collided with a truck parked in the wrong direction on the highway. The collision was so strong that the police car was badly damaged. Four soldiers died on the spot. The official said that they have been identified as Constable Pradyuman Dixit, Constable Aman Kaurav, Driver Parmlal Tomar (all residents of Morena) and Dog Master Vinod Sharma (resident of Bhind). Another constable Rajeev Chauhan suffered serious injuries in the incident.

Deep mourning in Morena and Bhind

The officer said that the injured soldier was immediately taken to Bansal Hospital in Bhopal, where his condition was said to be critical. He said that one dog of the dog squad is safe. After receiving the information, people from the local administration and police reached the spot and started the relief operation. The officer said that prima facie investigation appears that the driver of the police vehicle lost control of the vehicle, leading to the horrific accident. Police have registered the case and the search for the truck driver is on. Police said that the families of the deceased soldiers have been informed. There is deep mourning in Morena and Bhind districts due to this accident.
