Trump Gold Card: US President Donald Trump has made a big move to give American citizenship to talented students of India and China studying in America. Trump has started a new visa program to attract brilliant students from India and China to America and fill the government treasury. Donald Trump has said that it is a “shame” that students from countries like India and China have to return to their countries after graduating from top American universities. He said that it will help companies to hire and retain such talent in the country.
Citizenship will be given through ‘Trump Gold Card’
Trump on Wednesday announced the launch of ‘Trump Gold Card’, which will be a visa program. The Trump Gold Card is a visa that is based on an individual’s ability to provide significant benefits to the United States. Trump said during a roundtable at the White House, “It’s a gift to bring a wonderful person to our country, because we think these are some tremendous people who would not have been allowed to stay. They graduate from college, they have to go back to India, they have to go back to China, they have to go back to France. It’s a shame. It’s ridiculous. We’ll take care of it.”
Trump announced that the Gold Card website has gone live and companies can “buy” Gold Cards to keep students hired from top American universities like Wharton, Harvard and MIT in the US. Trump said that he has heard many times from Apple CEO Tim Cook and other executives that they cannot hire people from the best colleges because they do not know whether they will be able to keep that person or not. Trump said that through the Gold Card, America will earn billions of dollars which will be used for the country.
Trump said that companies will now be very happy with the Gold Card, which has more benefits than the Green Card and it gives permanent citizenship in America. He said that companies will be able to go to schools like Wharton School of Finance, Stern Business School of New York University, Harvard, MIT, companies can hire their students from anywhere and you can buy a card and keep that person in the United States.
What is the price of gold card?
Trump has described the Gold Card as similar to the Green Card, but much better and much more powerful. Giving details of the Gold Card, Commerce Secretary Howard Latnick said it would cost $1 million for an individual and $2 million for a corporation and would be fully vetted to ensure that these people are fully eligible to live in the US. Then the company can keep them here and they will have a path to citizenship.
