Messi Delhi Visit: Global football icon Lionel Messi is coming to Delhi today on the last day of his India tour, due to which Delhi Police has increased security in the central parts of the national capital and imposed restrictions on traffic. Delhi is ready to welcome Messi, the police is keeping a strict vigil especially in view of the recent incident in Kolkata. There was a lot of ruckus among the fans at the Salt Lake Stadium in Kolkata due to not being able to see Messi. Fans vandalized the stadium, after which questions were raised on the organizers and administration.

This is the complete schedule

Argentina’s legendary player Messi is scheduled to attend an event at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Monday between 1 pm and 4 pm. Messi will reach Delhi airport by 11 o’clock. After this he will go to Leela Hotel. Messi will reach the stadium at 11:30. There will be a reception at 2:30. Celebrity match will be played at 2:50 pm. After this, Messi will join the match at 3:30 pm. At 3:45, Messi will play football with 30 children. The stage ceremony will take place at 4:20. He will attend the Adidas event at 4:40 pm. Messi will leave for the airport at 6:10.

Security tight in Delhi

Delhi Police said that an elaborate and multi-layered security arrangement has been made for Messi’s visit. Extensive arrangements have been made with special attention to crowd management, access control and traffic regulation. According to the police, several security cordons have been formed around the venue, and additional police personnel along with paramilitary forces have been deployed to maintain law and order. Entry into the stadium and designated places is being strictly regulated and no one is allowed inside without a valid pass. The official further said that quick reaction teams, senior supervisory officers and emergency response units will remain on standby throughout the event, with public safety being the top priority.

Will have to go to the stadium on foot

On the traffic front, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Nishant Gupta said they have identified three main parking areas for labeled vehicles, including P1 near Vikram Nagar. Unlabeled vehicles will have to be parked in the Rajghat Powerhouse parking lot and Mata Sundari Lane, from where the stadium can be reached on foot. Those using app-based taxis have been advised to get down at Rajghat Chowk and walk. The official said that there is a strict ban on parking around the Arun Jaitley Stadium and vehicles parked there will be towed and fined. Commuters have been advised to avoid Bahadur Shah Zafar Marg, ITO, Delhi Gate, Netaji Subhash Marg and Brijmohan Chowk from 10 am till the end of the program.
