AAP News: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has decided to contest the District Panchayat elections in Goa alone. He said that the Congress led alliance has not made any official announcement yet.
AAP News: All political parties have started preparing for the upcoming District Panchayat elections in Goa and during this time, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has started setting its electoral equation. Before the District Panchayat elections (ZP) to be held in the state on December 20, like-minded parties in Goa are not working due to not receiving instructions from the Congress. Speaking to the media, AAP’s Goa unit president Amit Palekar said that the party has deliberately stayed away from the alliance as it does not want to be associated with unprepared people.
Official statement of alliance did not come
Before the District Panchayat elections, Goa’s opposition parties including Congress, Goa Forward Party (GFP) and Revolutionary (RGP) had proposed to form an opposition alliance before the District Panchayat elections to be held on December 20, but till now no official statement has come out from their side. Meanwhile, Amit Palekar said that no formal announcement has been made on the alliance, while ZP elections in the state are just 14 days away. He alleged that the Congress party has not given any reply and has refused to announce all its candidates even as the voting day approaches. The alliance is not working because of Congress.
AAP announces to contest elections alone in Goa
There are 50 seats in District Panchayat in Goa, out of which Congress has announced the names of only a few candidates in its list. At the same time, AAP said that GFP and RGP have fielded candidates against each other in Shiroda, South Goa. Palekar said that RGP has released the list of its candidates on Thursday, in which it has fielded its candidates in Shiroda also. The head of Goa AAP unit said that this is the reason why AAP does not want to be a part of this unrealistic alliance and they are entering the fray without any preparations. He further said that AAP has announced its candidates after deciding to contest the elections alone. Besides, honest candidates have been fielded in various fields. AAP said that we will support such independent candidates in some constituencies where we are not fielding our candidates. Our direct objective here is to defeat BJP in the elections by some means.
