Adequate food reserves in the country, do not pay attention to rumors

Any person involved in hoarding or storage will be prosecuted under the relevant sections of the Essential Commodities Act.

New Delhi: In view of the situation of war between India and Pakistan, traders should not hoist, otherwise the government will take strict action against them. The government said on Friday that the country has sufficient food reserves to meet domestic demand, but warned traders and wholesalers against the hoarding of essential foods, which can cause artificial shortages. This warning has come at a time when the conflict between India and Pakistan has increased and Pakistan is carrying out without shelling and drone attacks in border cities.

Traders should cooperate with the government

Union Food and Consumer Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi said that do not believe in rumors about food reserves in the country. We have enough food reserves, which is more than the required criteria. Joshi said, “Businessmen, wholesalers, retailers or professional institutions who trade essential commodities are instructed to cooperate with law enforcement agencies. Any person involved in hoarding or storage will be prosecuted under the respective sections of the Essential Commodities Act. He said that all the necessary items in the country have more stock, so do not pay attention to the requirements of all essential items.

Long line for food items in many places

He said that rumors are spreading in some parts of the country, due to which people are running to gather necessary food items and other daily requirements and are laying lines. The minister had clearly stated, “We have more and more stock of all the things necessary across the country. The minister insisted,” Our stock is many times more than the need, and there is no reason for any part of the country to run in the markets in any part of the country. ” Joshi said that there is no shortage of any kind and no one should pay attention to such rumors. In the Kharif and Rabi season of the current crop year 2024-25, the country’s food production has already reached 330.92 million tonnes. Production estimates of summer (Zayed) sowing are yet to be released. The Nodal Agency, Food Corporation of India, for the purchase and distribution of food grains, had a stock of 13.55 million tonnes of wheat till 1 April this year, while the buffer requirement is 7.46 million tonnes.
