Jharkhand News: A strange case of superstition has come to light in Latehar district of Jharkhand. The cattleman who went to graze cattle due to lightning was killed. The family kept the dead body in the cow dung with the hope that the effect of electricity on the cow dung will reduce the effect of it and the cattleman would be alive. In Latehar district of Jharkhand, the police had to struggle a lot to send the body of 45 -year -old cattleman who died due to lightning for postmortem. The police had to celebrate the family a lot, then the family members handed over the dead body.
Electricity fell on husband and wife while grazing cattle
Manoj Kumar, in-charge of the Mahuadand police station, told PTI-Bhasha on Sunday that the cattleman and farmer Ramnath Yadav went to graze the cattle with his wife Shobha Devi on Saturday evening in Rampur village of Mahuadand block of Latehar, when he died due to lightning and he fell on the spot. The family rushed Yadav to the Community Health Center (CHC) in Mahuadand for treatment, where doctors declared him dead due to lightning after investigation. Shobha Devi has also been admitted, but her condition is stable. However, the superstitious family brought the body back from the CHC without informing the police and placed it in the cow dung pile with the belief that it would reduce the effect of electricity and the Yadavs will be revived again.
Police had to use force to take dead body
The police officer further said that the doctors of CHC informed us about the dead body. We went to his house and asked him to hand over the dead body so that he could be sent for post -mortem and a formal case of unnatural death can be registered. However, they did not agree and asked us to wait, because the deceased will soon be alive. Even doctors and local administration officials reached home and tried to convince the family to hand over the dead body. The doctors tried to convince the family that it is not possible for the dead person to be alive in any way. But they did not agree, and it continued till midnight. We had to use some force and finally they agreed. After this, the body was sent to Latehar Sadar Hospital in the early hours of Sunday. There will be a post -mortem on Sunday. After this we will register a case. Police officials also claimed that the family was also told that post -mortem is necessary to get compensation on death under the disaster management rules of the state government.
