PM Modi on Run for Unity: Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged all the countrymen to participate in the Run for Unity program on 31st October, on the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

PM Modi on Run for Unity: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday urged citizens to join the Unity Run organized on October 31 to commemorate the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, the creator of united India. “Join the Unity Run on 31st October and celebrate the spirit of togetherness! Let’s honor Sardar Patel’s vision of a united India,” PM Modi said in a post on Twitter.

Run for Unity program will be run across the country

Patel, born on October 31, 1875, was a freedom fighter and the first Home Minister and Deputy Prime Minister of independent India. He played an important role in integrating more than 500 princely states into the Union of India after independence. Patel’s birth anniversary is also celebrated as National Unity Day. The Prime Minister will lead the National Unity Day Parade near Kevadiya, Gujarat on October 3. In his Mann Ki Baat radio address on Sunday, the Prime Minister had said that this October 31 is special as it is the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. Run for Unity programs will be organized across the country to celebrate the birth anniversary of Sardar Patel.

‘Patel’s personality contained many qualities’

On Sunday, PM Modi remembered Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel in his monthly program ‘Mann Ki Baat’. PM said, ‘This year October 31 is the 150th birth anniversary of Sardar Patel. This is a very special occasion for the entire country. Sardar Patel has been one of the greatest personalities of the nation in modern times. His great personality contained many qualities together. He further said that Patel performed well in studies both in India and Britain.

‘Patel contributed to many movements’

PM said, ‘He is one of the most successful lawyers of his time. If he wanted, he could have earned more name for himself in advocacy, but inspired by the thoughts of Gandhiji, he dedicated himself completely to the freedom movement. His contribution in many movements from Kheda Satyagraha to Borsad Satyagraha is still remembered. His tenure as the chief of Ahmedabad Municipality was historic. He gave top priority to cleanliness and good governance. We all will always be indebted to him for his contribution as Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister.
