Rebels have relations with Islamic State
Earlier this month, this group killed dozens of people in Ituri, which was described as a bloody struggle by a UN spokesperson. A spokesperson of the Congo Army in Komanda has confirmed the death of 10 people. In Ituri, DRC Army spokesman Lieutenant Jules Nagongo said that this morning we came to know that armed men infiltrated a church, far away from Komanda, where about 10 people were killed and a massacre. Some shops were set on fire. The ADF, who belongs to the Islamic State, is a rebellious group active in the border region between Uganda and Congo. This rebellious group has regularly attacking the civilian population. Durantatabo said that we are really disappointed, as it is incredible that such a situation can happen in the city where all security officers are present.
People are running away for fear of attack
Fearing the attack, citizens are running away from the area and moving towards the buniya. We demand military intervention as soon as possible, because we have been told that the enemy is still near our city. The ADF was formed in the late 1990s after alleged dissatisfaction with Yowari Museveni by different small groups in Uganda. After the military attacks by the Uganda’s army in 2002, the group transferred its activities to the neighboring DRC and has since been responsible for the killings of thousands of citizens. In 2019, it took an oath of allegiance to the Islamic State. The leadership of ADF imagines an Islamic government in the East African country. The armed forces of the Congo Democratic Republic (FARDC) have been struggling against the rebellious group for a long time.
